Arts Week 2006

John visited Bradford Christian School to lead some poetry sessions as part of their arts week in July 2006. The theme was "Woodlands".

God made me

to make air to breathe,

to be lived in;

for kids to hide behind,

climb and fall from;

to give pencils,

tables, chairs, houses,

Pooh sticks;

to stand there looking

tree-ish.

No brain but alive

it dives

past the worms

into the dark, gloomy dampness,

stretching, growing tall,

reaching for the clouds,

shooting up,

bending down,

battling the wind,

balancing

like a tightrope walker.
