Funny (how Christmas comes around)
When I’d just about forgotten, ‘bout the weight I’d put on; In the war of my waistline, summer’s battle had been won, Now all my motivation’s gone, and diet days are done. Funny how Christmas comes around.
When I’d just about forgotten, ‘bout the money I had blown, After spending time with bankers I’d been sold another loan; Headroom on my cards again, I’ve remortgaged all I own. Funny how Christmas comes around.
Back to school, September stores displays are giving way To pretty gifts and must eat things to buy for Christmas Day. I’m Santa raiding Sainsbury’s with a heavy bill to pay; It’s costing me much more than cash, have I spent my soul away?
When I’d just about forgotten, ‘bout the baby that was born, So long ago, so far away, that first Christmas morn, So far from the shopping malls, the meaning of it all. Funny how Christmas comes around.
When I’d just about forgotten, ‘bout the debt I cannot pay, ‘bout the weight I cannot carry, nor need to since the day When I first believed in Jesus and he took it all away. Funny how Christmas comes around.
