Hero I don't like what I see when I look in your eyes, moving pictures of hurt and pain; scenes from your life shot in black and white, replayed again and again. And I guess you'd never show it on general release, and you'd edit the horror frames, and spooling back never alters the plot, though you watch it again and again and again and again.
Your memory's a prison where you drown in your tears, as the torturer stands over your bed, where the bars of your cage are electrified and you've torn your pale flesh red; Now you can't see there's any way out of your pain while the present only serves to remind of a past that you'd rather forget if you could, and a future you don't want to find.
You're looking for a hero, don't care who it might be; someone to unlock the chains on your heart, someone to set you free, someone to sweep you away while the orchestra plays and the sun begins to rise - but you need more than a celluloid hero on screen, you need a saviour for your life.
Now your mind's rushing through all the things that have gone and you're taking all the blame, and you punish yourself for the sins of the world, and you chain yourself in shame, But the chains that are keeping you tied to the floor have been broken already for you; Jesus has taken the punishment himself like no one else could do.
