THE ISLAND OF MINDANAO

Kapalong was a good three hours drive from the city but on good roads and in a minibus. It was there we transferred to the lorry to see the work that Christian Aid's partner organisation, CARD-Davao's good people do with the indigenous people in the hills.     Leila (left), Meerna (bottom left) and Boy (bottom right) are the people who make things happen.         This is the terrain of the hill farms we visited in Mindanao. Christian Aid's partner, CARD-Davao, has encouraged diversification and helped with the establishment of new crops.         Loretta (left) was farmer of the year in her barangay. Her husband farms a little further up the mountain, but obviously not as well as Loretta!         Loretta's farm has a fish pond.
