SONG - OUTSIDE PARADISE |
|
Standing outside Paradise Wide eyes stare and disbelieving mouths just sigh
Where everything’s bling and glints and gleams
And everyone seems to live their dreams
Looking in from outside Paradise
A resort on the island of Negros
‘tween the sugar fields and the sea
Beside the workers’ corrugated tin town
A guarded gate keeps out the free
But money makes up Paradise’s strongest wall
And those outside are who pay the price
For plenty for the rich means they have none at all
Looking in from outside Paradise
Standing outside Paradise...
![]() Back home in a football ground’s car park
Street kids watch the players driving in
Jaguars, Mercedes, Lexus kind of cars
That only twoccing earns the chance to spin
And they peer in at the luxury and wonder
How they can have a share of the prize
Get ready for the storms and the thunder
Looking in from outside Paradise
Standing outside Paradise…
![]() And it seems sometimes we’re looking into heaven
And God’s Kingdom seems to be so close at hand
And poverty has almost been made history
But perspective so depends on where you stand
Standing outside Paradise…
