SONG - THERE'S A RIVER |
|
In Mindanao there’s a river in the mountains
In the season you can cross it by the ford
When the rains come down and the river rises up
Then it’s deep and it’s muddy and it’s broad
In the night when I slept and wasn’t looking
The river it had risen to my door
When the rains come down and the river rises up
I couldn’t see my way home any more
Now I’ve never been much of a swimmer
And punting on the Cam is not my scene
When the rains come down and the river rises up
I needed expertise on which to lean
So the local lads they strapped a raft together
And I watched them float it on the flood
When the rains come down and the river rises up
They steered it to the bank where still I stood
I remembered they were praying back in England
And I thought it best that I should pray some more
When the rains come down and the river rises up
My eyes were still closed when we reached shore
There’s a gap between us here and heaven
And times we think we’ll make it on our own
When the rains come down and the river rises up
We’ll be stuck on the wrong side all alone
And we need to admit we need assistance
We’re never going to make it on our own
When the rains come down and the river rises up
Jesus takes us by the hand and leads us home
