Big Light Party

Every year, we work with Christians Together in Shipley to run the Big Light Party, an alternative to traditional Halloween activities for children in the town. This is advertised through eight local primary schools and regularly attracts around 100 children.

The party always takes place on 31st October every year, usually at Northcliffe Church, Shipley, and provides an alternative for parents and families who don't want to take part in trick-or-treating or other traditional Halloween activities. There is often an alternative fancy dress theme, and the programme includes songs, games, craft, stories, and other activities around the theme of light.

Julie works with Heidi Smith, Youth & Children's Worker from St Peter's Shipley, to organise this event. They coordinate contributions from other churches across Shipley and manage the team of volunteers who staff the event. Churches involved include Shipley Baptist, Northcliffe LEP, St Peter's, St Paul's, Saltaire Methodist, GraceSpace, Saltaire URC, St Philip's Girlington, and St Margaret's Frizinghall.

"Thank you for another fab event! Erin had a wonderful time and told us all about everything she had done."
